Gerard Mas studied at the School of Applied Arts and artistic crafts “Llotja” in Barcelona, specializing in sculpture and stone carving. He graduated as conservator and restorer D’escultura in the “Escola Superior de Conservació i Restauració de Béns culturals de Catalunya” in Barcelona.
Gerard Mas’s sculpture poses a dialogue between the contemporary and the classical world, between the past and the present. His sculptures are based on polychrome resin as a base to achieve its hyper-realistic appearance, but play the bewilderment by decontextualized elements from different realities that coexist defying the logic of the receiver.
Gerard Mas has exhibited internationally in places like Germany, United Kingdom or Portugal, and his work is present in collections like Fundación Vilacasas. “Can Mario” space. Palafrugell. Girona. Col Lesson MEFIC (Museum of Contemporary International figurative sculpture). Murcia or the foundation of arts and artists. Barcelona.
